CASA Volunteers & Supporters,
Your Payne County CASA Board of Directors has been working very hard on the 2009 Valentine fundraising gala. For those of you who are new and may not know our February fundraising event is our second largest funding source. All funds raised at the event benefit Payne County CASA and go towards program operating expenses. Special thanks to the Fundraising Committee for their work thus far. Your Fundraising Committee Chair for the ’09 event is Allison Strub and she is on the, “disco ball!” We also owe a great deal of thanks to Ellen Morgan for her tremendous support and assistance in making this event possible!
Excitement is already brewing over the 2009 event- Dancing for the Stars and of course, the stars everyone will be dancing for are the abused and neglected children CASA serves. The event will be held Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the OSU Student Union Ballroom at 6:30 pm.
Celebrity Dancers for the event are:

Miss Oklahoma, Lindsey Jo Harrington performing with instructor James Shammerhorn
Our former Kid’s Court Judge, Bob Murphy performing with instructor Heather Grey
Owner of Gym One, Vanessa Patton performing with instructor Matthew Coulter
Dr. Robert Harder (who will be competing against his wife in the competition) performing with instructor Elizabeth Armstrong
Dr. Kathleen Harder performing with Tom Reams
Dance show hosts are Senate President Pro Tempore, Mike Morgan and KOCO Channel 5’s Jessica Schambach.
Most of the Celebrity Dancers have already started practicing with their instructors! On November 16th they will begin soliciting pledges/donations. Each dollar they raise for CASA will be one vote or point. The same formula used on the Dancing with the Stars show of 50% of the pledges/votes and 50% of the judge’s scores will determine the winner!
Our event will also offer: A mini live and silent auction, a game lounge (for all you stubborn non dancers), and back by popular demand, the Lucky Dice Game as well as another 1 in 50 chance to win a beautiful piece of jewelry! The event will also feature performances by professional dancers and local dance studios. Music will be provided by the 20 piece Stillwater Jazz Band and a DJ. Dance cards will be available for purchase- you can buy one for yourself and dance with the instructor of your choice or you can purchase a card and make someone else dance! They will either have to dance or “donate” to get out of it! The event will include an upscale buffet, an open dance floor after the show and a casual amateur dance contest with secret judges in the audience!
This is one CASA fundraiser you do not want to miss so mark your calendars now and tell your friends!
- Formal attire and advance reservations are required.
- Open Seating Reservations are $125 per person.
- Sponsor Tables with reserved seating for 10 are available for $1,500.
- (Payne County CASA volunteers will be extended a discounted rate).
- Seating will be limited!
